On 22.06.In 2020, our cohort of 2019 trainees had the first full-day IBU. This started at 9.00 o'clock with our colleague David Kees over the topic consumer credits.
We were all very surprised about the not so common seating arrangement with three presentation screens in the training room, which is due to the extraordinary times of Covid-19. Nevertheless, this seating arrangement turned out to be very convenient, as you could be closer to the lecturer and the presentation.
David Kees started with an introduction to his person and explained to us how the day would proceed. He pointed out that the focus of the IBU is on personal loans.

What is a loan?
After that he explained what a loan actually is and how best to describe it. With a credit it concerns a limited hiring out of money capital against interest. Then he defined the various economic agents who can take out a loan with the Savings Bank. Also he explained us the different types of an overdraft, which also represent a credit.
After a while, we arrived at the topic of personal loans. David Kees explained the advantages and disadvantages of each type of credit. The requirements for the types of credit have also been clarified.
Practical tasks
After explaining the different types, let's use a fictitious customer to see if he or she meets all the requirements to get an installment loan. Various conditions must be met by the customer: We check whether a customer is legally creditworthy and credit-capable.
To see if a client is able to service the loan installments in the long term, you also need to look at their sales during the consultation. Monthly income and expenses are recorded and thus the material creditworthiness of the customer is checked. This check is defined under the term budget calculation. If you compare the regular expenses with the regular income, you get the amount that can theoretically be paid as an installment. We were then allowed to carry out such a household calculation ourselves, which was interesting.
My conclusion
All in all, it was a very interesting and successful IBU, with many practical events. This has the positive effect of making me remember the contents of this IBU particularly well.
What I personally liked most about this IBU were the exercises related to the topics addressed. This way, you could make a practical reference to the theoretical topics covered.
